I have a 6 year old Chihuahua and she’s very territorial. The new puppy is a dachshund and very playful and the chihuahua gets aggravated. How do I get the chihuahua to become friendly with the new puppy and not want to hurt her?
It is always best to make sure the dogs will get along before you bring a new dog into the home. It is also a good thing to socialize dogs while they are young and keep them socialized. It just may not work out for your dogs. You may need to consult a trainer that specializes in socialization.

Give them a few days or weeks let them sniff and get accustomed to each other. If they are still not getting along just show the chihuahua you love the puppy and you love her.

you can try crating the pup, give your older dog time to get use to the pup. when the older dog is nice with the pup, give her a treat. treat training works wonders. i have 4 dogs, different ages & sizes, they all get along due to time & treat training. watch "It’s Me or the Dog" on Animal Planet, you may get some ideas. GOOD LUCK
