Can a chihuahua and australian shepard have babies?
I have a 2 yr old australian sheppard and a 8 month old chihuahua i am wondering if when she goes into heat if my australian shepard will try and get her and if he would get her would it be possible for her to have babies without hurting her……….. We have a vets appointment to get them fixed in october but i am worried until then.
Yes, if she goes into heat the male will try to get to her. He will try very, very, hard, including climbing fences, digging under them, etc. And yes, if he is succesful and she gets pregnant it would be extremely hazardous. Why not see if the vet can't get them in to be fixed a little sooner so you don't have to worry about it. If its not possible, be prepared to keep one or the other crated at all times. Also, be aware that the male may start marking all over the house once she goes into heat, and other intact males in the neighborhood will also try to get to her.

it wouldnt be good for them to breed…. esp if the female is a lot smaller than the male…. she could die whilst giving birth

If your Aussie bred your Chi the result would be death. Don't wait until October to alter your pets.

if she would get pregnant in the future, the vet could always abort the puppies and fix the female at the same time. Don't worry. Best of luck to you.

If the female is the chihuahua and she gets pregnant by the bigger dog the chances are shell die during pregnancy or if she makes it that far during birth. if youre that worried , get a vets appointment as an emergency or find another vet.

If possible you need to keep the pets separated until they are fixed so this is not an issue.

i would keep them seperated if she comes into heat before then,, your shepard is too big a dog to mate with the lil one and if she does get pg it might kill her

yes it is very possible and yes it is very dangerous for her she probably won't survive if she got pregnant by him
